History 3 - Production of the Paintings

PRODUCTION OF THE PAINTINGS

The First Painting

Susan met Bro. Rommel Salvacion, who accepted the challenge to do the painting which Susan explained as inspired by the Blessed Mother. Susan explained to Bro. Rommel the features and elements that Our Lady wanted to be placed in the painting. Bro. Rommel, a leader of the Mary Help of Christians. Prayer and Deliverance group, and a deeply religious and spiritual person painted the First Painting of the Luminous Cross. But when Susan saw the final work of Bro. Rommel, she noticed some modifications which somehow did not substantially alter the "original inspiration" she received; the added images on the finished painting later on provided some relevant aspects in the understanding of the Luminous Cross.

On Oct 2, 2009, inspite of Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s frenzied schedule due to the devastation wrought by Typhoon Ondoy, the group was able to secure an appointment to request her petition for the 5th Marian dogma. Her petition was submitted to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI in Oct.2, 2009 when Ambassador Mercy Tuason presented her credentials to the Pope. Coincidentally, On Oct.2, 1980 The Blessed Mother gave a message for the Philippines through Fr. Stefano Gobbi of the Marian Movement of Priest which was titled - “ A Great Design on This People”.

In December 2002, Susan received the inspiration that the first painting be brought to Malacañang and presented to the President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on the 25th of March 2003, which is the Feast of the Annunciation. The inspiration further indicated that the President would be requested to consecrate herself and the entire Filipino nation to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Susan understood that once our nation is consecrated in this manner, Our Lady would guide and protect it.

There were many obstacles the Alabang group encountered as they sought to have an audience with the President. "It was a yes - no - yes - kind of appointment. Then a day before, nearing evening, we received a call that President Macapagal-Arroyo would receive us on 25th of March, 2003. On that day, the President consecrated herself and the entire nation to Our Lady.

The next inspiration Susan got was that the First Painting will be presented to the Holy Father by the President herself, accompanied by some bishops and lay faithful, who would request the Holy Father to declare the Fifth Marian dogma. Malacañang shipped the painting to the Philippine Embassy in the Vatican and gave instructions to the Embassy officials to arrange for its presentation to the Holy Father on the occasion of the visit of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to the Holy Father in late September 2003. But when the President and her party actually visited the Holy Father, the painting could not be brought to the Pope due to several difficulties encountered.

History 2 - The Painting of the Luminous Cross

THE PAINTING OF THE LUMINOUS CROSS

With the events which seemed to confirm the inspirations she was getting from Our Lady, Susan started to have the three paintings done as requested by the Blessed Mother. In September 2002, Reza initiated to produce the painting through a computerized composition where he imposed five different images of the Blessed Mother on the five areas of the Cross. The image which came out from the computer art work showed the cross unexpectedly bright and luminous, when it was supposedly rendered in gold color. Thus Susan got the inspiration to call it for the first time the"Luminous Cross". Incidentally, exactly a month later, on 16 October 2002, Pope John Paul II added the "Luminous Mysteries" to the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Then Susan described how the painting was to look like: "This is what the Blessed Mother wanted

• God the Father is to be portrayed as revealed to Mother Eugenia; God The Son as Jesus of the Divine Mercy.

• Images of the Blessed Mother would be superimposed on the four corners of the Luminous Cross and the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe as Queen of the Divine Will at the center. The images represent the five major wounds of our Lord and the five major continents.

Our Lady of Kazan
On the north of the Cross is Our Lady of Kazan (1st Dogma - Mother of God). Upon her research, Khambatta learned that the icon of Our Lady of Kazan is of great value to the Russians as she has seen to their protection and victories during war and is specially revered as Protector of families.

Susan further explained that Pope John Paul II returned this Russian icon to Patriarch Alexi on 28 August 2004 in his attempt to unify the Eastern and Roman Catholic Churches.

Pope John Paul II

During the funeral rites of Pope John Paul II the world was witness to the unity of different faiths. So isn't it doubly significant that Our Mother would specify that her image of Our Lady of Kazan be located on top of the Cross."

Our Lady of Lipa (Mediatrix of All Grace)

The eastern side of the Cross would have the image of Our Lady of Lipa, Mediatrix of All Grace (2nd Dogma-Perpetual Virginity). Susan explained that since Our Lady appeared in the Philippines, this image would represent the East.

Our Lady of Guadalupe
• At the center of the Cross would be Our Lady of Guadalupe(3rd Dogma-Immaculate Conception). She will be also known as the Queen of the Divine Will. It is through Her that the unification of the Church can come about bringing true peace to the world.

Our Lady of Fatima

On the western side of the Cross is Our Lady of Fatima (4th Dogma -Assumption). Since she appeared in Europe she would represent the West.

Our Lady of All Nations
And at the southern part of the Cross, at its foot, we have Our Lady of All Nations, just as our Lord had given her to us as our Mother when He died.

The Trinity would be crowning the Cross through the Virgin of the Globe; a rainbow would span from the East to the West to represent God's covenant with His people and the Blessed Mother as the Ark of the New Covenant; St. Joseph would overlook the Vatican as Patron of the Universal Church; the Eucharist would radiate within the walls of the Vatican signifying the reign of the Eucharist; fifty-two lilies would represent the Litany of the Blessed Mother."

History of the Luminous Cross of Grace

Part 1

THE INSPIRATIONS FROM THE BLESSED MOTHER

The LUMINOUS CROSS OF GRACE is a devotion which the Blessed Virgin Mary seemed to have inspired in Susan Maria D'Souza Khambatta, an Indian mother of three children whose family has lived in the Philippines for the past five years and who regularly spends hours of prayer in the Blessed Sacrament. In several instances while at prayer, Susan would get inspirations from Our Lady who would direct her on what to do.
One day, Susan shared with her prayer partners that "when I received these divine inspirations from Our Lady, it was very clear. The Blessed Mother wanted a painting, not only one but three, done only for one reason: to hasten the proclamation of the Fifth Dogma."

Susan continued her habit of praying before the Blessed Sacrament. On February 11, 2002, feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, as she was praying for the proclamation of the Fifth Dogma, and for world peace and unity, she received an inspiration from the Blessed Mother that she was to go on a Marian Pilgrimage to further the cause of the Fifth Dogma. Coincidentally, Fatima Louise Maria Nebrida, a Mariologist, had received a similar inspiration on the very same day while at prayer in the adoration chapel in Cebu. In obedience to the inspiration, Susan joined a prayer rally organized by Nebrida for the proclamation of the Fifth Dogma held at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome, Italy on August 22, 2002, Feast of the Queenship of Mary.

The next inspiration Susan received in April 2002 was that our Lady asked her to "put Me on the Cross covering the five wounds of our Lord to signify the five dogmas. In the center should be the Queen of the Divine Will and I will take care of IT!" Susan was aghast. She didn't even know what the other four dogmas were. She questioned the Blessed Mother, "Who is the Queen of the Divine Will?" She was told to, "Call Reza". And to her surprise, after she got home from the Adoration chapel she got a call from Reza, who is a foreign national of Middle Eastern descent and with whom Susan was not in the habit of calling. Remembering our Lady's instruction, Susan asked him, "Do you know who the Queen of the Divine Will is?" Reza replied, "Yes, it is Our Lady of Guadalupe". Then he proceeded to tell Susan the story, of how Our Lady came to be honored and named as such.

In spite of these events which seemed to confirm the inspirations she was receiving from the Blessed Mother, Susan wanted to keep all these to herself. However, in May 2002, Susan got the message, "Tell, tell, tell" and she knew that our Lady wanted her to share these messages with her Cenacle group of Ayala Alabang. At about this same time, Reza, also deeply spiritual, came back to her and said, "I prayed about it and yes, the messages you are getting are true." A bit later, Susan spoke with another deeply spiritual Marian devotee, Guadalupe Yabes, who also affirmed that, the inspirations Susan was receiving was true.

In Dec.2002, Susan (Middle next to President) received the inspiration that the Luminous Cross painting be brought to Malacañang. It was presented to Pres.Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on March 25, 2003 who consecrated herself and the nation to our Lady of Guadalupe. It was during this time that the world was suffering from SARS and the Philippines was protected from it.

Prayer - Luminous Cross of Grace

LUMINOUS CROSS OF GRACE
CONSECRATION TO THE PRECIOUS BLOOD
OF JESUS CHRIST

(Please Pray Daily)

Conscious, merciful Savior, of my nothingness and of Thy sublimity, I cast myself at Thy feet and thank Thee for the many proofs of Thy grace shown to me, Thy ungrateful creature. I thank Thee especially for delivering me by Thy Precious Blood from the destructive power of satan. In the presence of my dear Mother Mary, my guardian angel, my patron saint and of the whole company of heaven, I dedicate myself voluntarily with a sincere heart, O dearest Jesus, to Thy Precious Blood, by which Thou hast redeemed the world from sin, death and hell. I promise Thee with the help of Thy grace and to the utmost of my strength to stir up and foster devotion to Thy Precious Blood, the price of our redemption, so that Thy adorable Blood may be honored and glorified by all. In this way, I wish to make reparation for my disloyalty towards Thy Precious Blood of love and to make satisfaction to Thee for the many profanations which men commit against that precious price of their salvation. O would that my own sins, my coldness and all the acts of disrespect I have ever committed against Thee, O Holy Precious Blood, could be undone. Behold, O dearest Jesus, I offer to Thee the love, honor and adoration, which Thy most Holy Mother, Thy faithful disciples and all saints have offered to Thy Precious Blood. I ask Thee to forget my earlier faithlessness and coldness and to forgive all who offend Thee. Sprinkle me, O divine Savior, and all men with Thy Precious Blood, so that we, O crucified Love, may love Thee from now on with all our hearts and worthily honor the Price of our salvation. Amen.

Imprimatur: † Most Rev. Precioso D. Cantillas, SDB, D.D.
Bishop of the Diocese of Maasin, Leyte
